Work Requirements
Wilderness Medics Inc. contracts EMTs, paramedics, and RNs who have at least one-year practical field experience in their level of certification. All personnel contracted by Wilderness Medics Inc. must be:
- 18 years of age
- Drivers license in state of residence
- Certified in state of residence as:
- EMT- BASIC
- EMT- PARAMEDIC
- (In Montana EMT-BASIC with IV, and Medication Modules)
- National Registry Certification
- Red Card Certified
- NWCG National Wildfire Coordinating Group approved course
- Meeting S-130/S-190 Basic wild land Firefighter/ Fire behavior
- I-100 Intro to ICS, and l-180 Human Factors of Firefighting
- Ability to meet arduous level physical test requirements
The ability to obtain certifications or licensure in other states as well as maintaining a National Registry certification will improve an individual’s ability to be assigned to incidents outside their state of residence. Individuals contracting with Wilderness Medics Inc. are hired as independent subcontractors.
How do I get work?
All approved subcontractors are added to a contractor pool list according to their region of residence, level of certification, and state of certifications. Subcontractors will be added to the pool list once a year after they have met all training requirements and annual refresher requirements. This process takes place in the spring each year.
